Blizzard sent out the first wave of closed beta invites and has officially moved Warlords of Draenor into the closed beta stage. The lucky gamers who received an invite were sent an e-mail stating the beta will start today at 2:00 PM PST (5:00 PM EST). Participants will be able to venture through the dark portal, build their garrison and do battle against the Iron Horde.
In a post on the official Warlords of Draenor beta form community manager Zarhym stated that Blizzard’s goal is to stress test the Tanaan jungle, one of the new zones in Draenor and the assault on the Dark Portal intro experience. Players looking to test out the new PvP can create a character on the pvp server Mekkatorque. All characters created on this server will receive an automatic boost to 100 and be given level 100 PvP gear; otherwise players can copy a character over from the live game.
Not all features are currently live and Blizzard warns “that Warlords of Draenor is still in development, and additional content and features will be made available throughout the beta testing process.” Participants are free to share videos and clips of their journey however, so if you weren’t invited in this wave be on the lookout for some videos and screenshots.
This first wave of invites was aimed at veterans of the game, although clearly not every veteran received an invite. You don’t need to be currently subscribed in order to be chosen. If you would like to participate in the beta be sure to flag your Battle.net account at WorldofWarcraft.com.
Make sure to check your e-mail for an invite and if you are one of the lucky gamers, start your journey into Draenor by heading over to http://www.battle.net/app/ and downloading the Battle.net client.
