If I Could Choose One Video Game World to Live In

If you are a gamer you have at one point in time been playing a game and said to yourself, “I wish the real world was like this”. Video game worlds are at times more interesting and better than the actual world is, that is why we enjoy losing ourselves in these worlds. Places where magical things are possible and nothing can surprise us. This led me to ask myself, if you could choose one video game world to live in which would it be?

The choice is tough, there are so many worlds that you can choose from. Do I want to live in Hyrule (Zelda)? Where magic is prevalent, everyone seems joyful and magical creatures are the norm. Do I want to live in Azeroth (Warcraft)? Where I can be a priest or a mage, and I can run dungeons with my friends whenever I want and money is found from fallen creatures.

Both are excellent choices, and there are a multitude of other gaming worlds that would be amazing to live in, but when I thought about it there was only one world that stood above and beyond all other gaming worlds.

Sure at first many will think there are many worlds that could be far better than Pokémon’s world, but I believe Pokémon’s world exceeds every other video game world. Not only does it have many of the bonuses most video game worlds have, but it has perks that no other world can provide.

Let’s start with the obvious, the Pokémon. This is obviously the main reason why I would choose this world. No other video game world gives you the ability to go out capture hundreds of creatures and train them. There are games that allow you to have pets but Pokémon gives you are larger variety, and let’s face it cooler options. Who wouldn’t love to call upon Charizard when you were in a difficult situation or jump of the back of Blastoise and ride across the sea?

Not only do you get to capture and train these creatures but you can battle them against whomever you please, and if you are skilled enough in fighting or training you can become famous. That is like becoming an NFL superstar, but you aren’t doing the heavy lifting your Pokémon is. The Pokémon give benefits to this video game world that no other world has, but that’s not the only perk this world has.

A Pokémon master’s life consists of eating, sleeping, catching Pokémon and fighting them. There is no job, the money falls from defeated Pokémon or opponents, there is no school aside from any training you would like to have in fighting and there is no real danger except for Team Rocket, who we have seen is rather inept at doing anything and should pose no real threat, and wild Pokémon, which if you have done your job as a Pokémon master shouldn’t be an issue.

That’s the kind of life I would love to live. My largest worry would be training my Pokémon and making sure I get to the clinic to heal them up. If I ever needed money I could spend the day beating up on some Pidgeys.

Not only would my life be care-free, but the world in itself would be a joy to explore. From haunted mansions to underground tunnels I would be seeing something new at every turn and I would only have hop on my bike to get there. If I need to get somewhere far away I grab one of my Pokémon that knows how to fly and off we go.

The citizens of the world, aside from Team Rocket and some gym leaders are kind. They are willing to help a stranger in need and provide advice in my journey. There is no hate in this world and most everyone seems to be content with their lives. It would be a joy to walk down the street and have a quick conversation with whomever I want and know they are being sincere. Not only are the citizens nice they are very welcoming, there is no fear of theft or murder in the Pokémon world. I would be free to roam anyone’s house, and not only would they not think this weird but they would be welcoming.

To top it all off the Pokémon world is up to date in technology. When I am not wandering the countryside catching Pokémon, meeting new people and working my way towards stardom I could stop in and play one of those gaming consoles that is in so many of the houses, just watch some good old fashion T.V. or I could hop on a cruise ship and sale the sea.

Sure there are some downsides to living in the Pokémon world. I myself am not magical, if I don’t take care of my Pokémon and I encounter a wild Pokémon I could be in for a hurting. I am bound to have a bully of a rival that wants nothing more than to see me fail, and of course Team Rocket is trying to mess everything up, but I feel these are rather minor problems to deal with.

When you compare the downsides of the Pokémon world with other video game worlds they seem almost nonexistent. The Pokémon world brings perks that are not seen in any other video game world, as well as providing minimal threat and downsides. Living in a world so carefree and joyous, where my only goal in life is to catch and train Pokémon seems like the perfect world to live in.
