Just last Friday my lovely and talented girlfriend made the leap to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She packed her bags and moved two hours away from me. I’ll admit that I didn’t quite realize how big of a change it would be until she was gone. This is something she needed to do and I am beyond proud of her for demonstrating the strength and courage to move two hours away and start new, but because of pursuing a dream my life changed completely and kicked off my year of change.
We all have New Year’s revolutions (like eating more jelly beans, I know it’s resolutions F.Y.I.), and unfortunately most of us don’t tend to keep these resolutions. Myself being one of these people; whether it was claiming last year I would spend the entire year of 2013 eating healthy (I can’t tell you how many times I had pizza last week) or that one year I promised to run a 5k (yesterday I winded myself walking my dog).
So instead of me declaring a specific resolution I am just claiming that 2014 is my year of change! It already started early with my girlfriend now living two hours away. But there is so much more I want to change about my life, and yes eating healthy and working out is part of it. Of course you all don’t care about my personal lifestyle changes, so how will this affect you?
It’s time to get serious about getting a job in the video game industry, time for less talk and more action. With that said I am bringing some changes to what I write about and when I write. For the few of you who actually read my posts (THANK YOU!) here is how 2014 will change:
I love video games and writing about them. In fact I love it so much I am trying to pursue a career in doing just that, but I also love a lot of other things. Mainly sports which I tend to have a lot of thoughts and opinions on.
Going forward my blog won’t just be about video games, but will have multiple posts about other things that are on my mind. I will still be writing a lot about video games, since that is still the main reason for my blog, but I want to broaden my writing skills and give myself a forum to vent and express my thoughts on other topics.
Writing about video games every day is difficult when I work from 9-5:30 Mon-Fri, have a girlfriend, a dog and of course I want to be playing the games I love. Not only was it difficult, but the quality at times was lacking; I would rush a story out so I could have some time to myself at the end of the day. Because of my rushing a story I wouldn’t do a great job of editing and would miss a lot of silly mistakes, but going forward I have planned a schedule that will allow my readers (if I have any or get any) to know what is coming and when its coming. Starting Wednesday the schedule will look as follows:
Monday: Sports post
Wednesday: Video games
This gives me the ability to write a post and step away for a day and then edit the post to better the quality, and the same time it allows for continuous stories.
F.Y.I. Wildcard for those of you who didn’t quite pickup on this means I will be writing about anything which can include more sports and video games.
2014 is going to be a magical year for video games and for me, I can feel it! Join me in my journey and enjoy the ride. Happy New Year and I look forward to spending 2014 with you.
